The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity

About

My interest in art developed from a very young age. As a child I would draw, paint and scribble on paper, on the road with chalk and even on desks and walls, much to the despair of my parents. Growing up in Basel, the “art capital” of Switzerland, also helped strengthen my interest in art as did the regular museum visits. It was all surrounding.

As the years went on my art skills progressed as a result of art lessons in school and as I pursued it as a hobby on the side. I now see it as a form of freedom and a way of expressing in art what I couldn’t in words.

A constant source of inspiration for me remains my Swiss-Brazilian uncle, who was an artist in every sense of the word. However, I never had the pleasure of meeting him. He tragically lost his battle to AIDS in 1994.

The name Perle Paints therefore derives from a family name; a family including many artists, singers and musicians who inspire me every day.

It is my goal to paint you a memory, or be it, a pearl, that you can treasure in a way that a photograph or object couldn’t and keep it in the present in form of a painting.
